Why this exists
Most people meet an unfamiliar emoji the same way: someone sends one, and the meaning is not obvious. EmojiSet answers that question in one page — what it depicts, what people usually mean by it, and which emoji tend to go with it — then lets you copy it and move on.
Our story
EmojiSet is made by Culture Department — the small studio also behind Gif Vibe, Sound Instants, Meme Picker, Jigsaw Quiz and Sliding Quiz.
EmojiSet started as a small side project by a tiny team who love the little faces we type every day. We wanted an emoji reference that felt as pleasant as the emojis themselves: clear meanings, one-tap copy, and no fuss.
Today it has grown into a full emoji playground on the web — a library, a combiner, categories and instant search — enjoyed by people around the world, and we are still adding new pieces every week.

Where the data comes from
Emoji characters, codepoints and version numbers follow the Unicode Standard. Names, descriptions and relationships are compiled from public emoji reference data. Emoji mashup images are provided by Google Emoji Kitchen, and sticker images are hosted by third parties. We keep the data in sync as new Unicode versions land.
Languages
The interface is available in 27 languages, and every emoji is named in all of them: our own translation data covers 18, and the official Unicode CLDR data fills the rest. Written descriptions exist for fewer languages and fall back to English where they are missing — showing English is better than showing nothing.
