The Person Facepalming emoji shows someone with a hand pressed flat against their forehead and face, eyes hidden, in the classic facepalm pose.
It means frustration or disbelief at something foolish. People send it when a friend makes an obvious mistake, when a situation is painfully awkward, or to admit their own blunder ("forgot my keys again ๐คฆ"). It plays the same role as SMH or the famous Captain Picard meme and can be exasperated, embarrassed or just playful.
Gendered versions are ๐คฆโโ๏ธ Woman Facepalming and ๐คฆโโ๏ธ Man Facepalming. When you don't know or don't care, ๐คท Person Shrugging fits better, and ๐ Face with Rolling Eyes adds an eye roll. It was added in Emoji 3.0 in 2016.
