As with the other color-based hearts, this emoji is often also used to express an affinity with or appreciation for various people, places, groups, objects, or ideas associated with the same color. For example, this emoji is frequently used on Twitter/X in reference to the Korean boy band Bangtan Sonyeondan, more commonly known as BTS.
May also be used in reference to the Purple Heart (PH) medal in the U.S. military for soldiers killed or wounded in combat.
